florida map 300x300 Maximizing Geothermal Incentives: FloridaThere’s never been a better time for Florida residents to invest in geothermal heat pump technology. Geothermal heat pumps are one of the best long term investments a homeowner can make when it comes to saving money and doing right by the environment. Geothermal heat pumps are great power managers, produce almost no emissions, and typically cut household heating and cooling costs. There are also a lot of great incentive, rebate and loan programs Floridians can take advantage of to cut the cost of geothermal heat pump purchase and installation.

For example, Miami-Dade County residents can enroll in the Expedited Green Buildings Process and the Renovation for Energy Efficiency Loan Program (REEL). Meanwhile, Volusia County residents can opt for a Green Building Program that will pay rebates and incentives for buildings that qualify. A geothermal heat pump goes a long way towards meeting those qualifications.

City of Tallahassee Utilities customers have two options. They can building a new home to Energy Star specifications and receive the a Energy Star Certified New Homes Rebate. They can also get a rebate through a more general Tallahassee Utilities rebate incentive. Other Florida homeowners who get their utility service from Gulf Power or Lakeland Electric are also eligible for rebates on qualified geothermal heat pump installation. Of course, all Florida residents can get a 30% tax credit thanks to the Federal Renewable Energy Tax Credit whenever they install a qualified renewable energy system, such as a geothermal heat pump.
